Do you care for someone who is severely affected by M.E / C.F.S?

My name is Joy Gamlin I am a third year occupational therapy student at the University of Southampton.

I am conducting my final year research project on the experiences of carers of people with severe M.E/CFS with the aim of publishing a paper summer 07’ and would like you to consider taking part in this study.

If you would be interested in taking part please write a short account/ story of your experience as a carer and how it affects your life, this could include opinions, experiences and emotions or any aspect of caring that you believe is of importance. Please write as much or as little as you would like, gaining an understanding of your experience is more important than the length.

I anticipate this may take up to 20-30 minutes to complete.

There would be no further contact once your experience had been submitted.

This project has been approved by the School of Health Professions and Rehabilitation Sciences undergraduate ethics committee. (Ethics number: U06/056) and permission has been given by Greg to post this request.

Although the information to participate in the research project is detailed above there is no obligation for you to participate.

If you do decide to participate in this research I am aware this could be an emotive issue to talk about. Please only disclose information you are comfortable with and stop writing your experiences if you find this too distressing.

If you would like to send in your experience of being a carer please email it to joymecfs@soton.ac.uk

This address has been set up for the purpose of this project.

If you have any comments or queries about this project please do not hesitate to contact either myself at the above address or my supervisor Teresa Job at tmj@soton.ac.uk

All information which is collected about you during the course of the research will be kept strictly confidential. Any information about you will have your name and address removed so that you cannot be recognised from it. All information will be kept in a secure locked drawer and participant research data will be stored in accordance with the University of Southampton’s guidelines for undergraduate research data. Only the research and the research supervisor will have access to the data.

Thank you for reading this and for any help you are able to give me.
